The technology found in the Lincoln MKZ is the second generation of Ford's hybrid system. Available in the Ford Fusion since the 2010 model year, Ford has a proven hybrid system on its hands. Under certain circumstances vehicles will operate in pure electric mode up to 47 miles per hour, much better than the usual 25 to 30 miles per hour for other full hybrids. That difference shows up in fuel efficiency, giving Lincoln a strong edge over the Lexus.
