2012 the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

The Lamborghini Gallardo was named after a line of famous bulls. After the takeover of the company by Audi the cars were still high performance cars but now they were user friendly. The cost of the car is around the same as 18 Honda Jazz's but if you are wanting to know how much this car is then this car is probably not for you.

It has Audi's switch gear and all grouped logically together. It has 6 speed transmission paddle shift similar to the ones in Maserati's and Ferrari's. The body shape is more chiselled and more defined. Overall it is a much more practical car than it's Lamborghini predecessors. It even has normal doors. If you wanted to you could use this car as an everyday car.

The car is 4 wheel drive and it needs it to be as there is so much power it needs to ensure all 4 wheels are glued to the floor.

Some of the more modern supercars of this era include the Muircéilago who was named after the legendary bull in 1879 whose life was spared by Matador El Lagartijo for his amazing performance in the arena and who survived more than 28 strokes from the estoc at this point the matador decided to spare it its life which is very unusual in bull fighting. Gallardo was the name of one of five famous castles of the fighting bull breed, and in 1943 the Reventon was named after the famous bull that took the life of the Mexican torero Félix Guzmán, and finally the 2008 concept car called the Estoque which is named after the estoc or sword in English language which is used to kill the bull in contest.

Although there was one very special Lamborghini supercar which wasn't connected to the name of any bull or bullfighting but could quite possibly be referred to as Madonna herself. This was of course the Countach, this came about when famous car designer Giuseppe Bertone first set eyes on the car. He was almost speechless except for one word which he managed to utter! This word was of course Countach which is often said as an act of astonishment and quite often used by Piedmontese men when they first set eyes on a beautiful woman.

Lamborghini Espada means sword in Spanish

Between 1968 and 1978 the Lamborghini Company manufactured a great tourer named Lamborghini Espada. This car was one of the most successful cars produced by Lamborghini at that time and was produced to fill the 4 seats car niche of the Italian company lineup. Lamborghini manufactured only 1217 units which were created by Marcello Gandini.

The name of the car refers back to the sword (Espada means sword in Spanish) which is used through the toreador to get rid of the bull. The car was manufactured in three series during its ten years of production. The series were called S1 (1968-1970), S2 (1970-1972) and S3 (1972-1978) plus they had improvements concerning the engine power and also the interior and exterior design. For instance, the S2 series had a new dashboard, a new steering wheel, vented brakes and a plus of 25 horsepower.

At the start the Espada was equipped with a 4.0 liter V12 engine, had an independent suspension and four wheel disc brakes. This car was "the fastest four seats car on the planet" that could range from zero to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. At that time cars had manual transmission, but Lamborghini Espada introduced the very first time the automatic transmission. This new transmission had the capacity to absorb the torque of the V12 engine. Moreover, this car had a cheaper chassis, but a significantly stronger platform made of pressed-steel that was given by Marchesi of Modena.

New Design 2012 Lamborghini Concepts

Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Ferrucio Lamborghini, a former army member who established their own company committed to building tractors. The tractor business developed as years passed as well as in 1970 another factory was founded to produce air conditioning units and heaters for buildings. The incredible success was celebrated in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy where the company established its headquarters.

But everything changed when he met Enzo Ferrari. It was the moment when his desire to build high-speed supercars with luxurious interiors revealed itself. Ferrucio complained to Enzo about a clutch problem that the Ferrari he owned had. Enzo told him that "the problem is not with the car but with the driver..." and that he was asked to take care of his tractors and leave the issue for those who get sound advice.

Disappointed through the answer received, Ferrucio dismounted the transmission of his car and found out that his car used exactly the same transmission as his tractors. Because of this discovery, he asked some talented men who worked for Enzo Ferrari including Franco Scaglione, Giotto Bizzarini and Gian Paolo Dallara to provide him help. As a result, the team created the perfect competitor for that Ferrari cars, the Automobili Lamborghini.

Ferrucio was inspired by its birth sign, Taurus, and started using it as an emblem for his cars. In fact, even nowadays the Lamborghini cars are named after bulls. The Italian company also recruited Giotto Bizzarrini, a worker who used to work for Ferrari and asked him to create and manufacture a V12 engine for Lamborghini. This engine was soon built and was able to produce 400 horsepower. But because Ferrucio wanted a GT car and never a racing car, the ability was reduced to 280 horsepower.

The tractor business of Lamborghini became more successful during 1950 and they expanded to heater and air conditioning business and was even a more flourishing business. Lamborghini was a car lover and he had a lot of sports car that were considered the best at that time. And because of his frustration of Ferrari cars he built a car that was more better from the Ferraris. He built a state of the art automotive factory in the small village of Sant'Agata. And his automotive engineer was Giotto Bizzarrini who worked with Ferrari before. The tractor business also faced hard times during the early 70's that led Lamborghini to sell his controlling interest of Automobili Lamborghini SpA to a Swiss industrialist. When the oil crisis came his problems worsened and led him to sell his shares that were left. But after ten years Lamborghini declared bankruptcy because the development of the military truck style Cheetah were not selling well.

But on 1980 the company rose back and the reason for this was the introduction and popularity of Countach. It is an over the top, fully styled with angles and vents sports car. In 1987 the Lamborghini was sold to Chrysler. There was also another change of ownership in 1994.

The front has been redesigned so that big frontal air intakes might be integrated. Despite the fact that air does not go straight to the turbine as with an airplane, since car is powered up with a 650 hp engine, there is lots of cool air required to cool down the carbon fibre brakes.

Talking numbers, the Lamborghini Reventon is worthy of racing jet fighters. With a 6.5 liter V12 turbine of the engine, it develops an astounding 650 hp reaching 8000 rpm. The ability to liters distribution is amazing the Reventon receiving 100 hp for every liter. Weighing little over 1500 kg and with that much power under the hood, the Reventon takes off and reaches from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and continuing to improve more and more in acceleration until it finally reaches it's top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph). And even at that speed the Reventon will have a company grip of the ground.
