The second generation of Chevrolet Aveo

The second generation Aveo was presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. It had been previewed earlier in the year as the Aveo RS concept. The Aveo RS was shown in concept form with 19-inch wheels and a M32 six-speed manual transmission mated to a 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine, rated at 103 kilowatts (138 hp).

The car uses the Gamma II global subcompact platform.

Chevrolet will market the new Aveo under the "Chevrolet Sonic" nameplate in the American, Mexican and Canadian markets. The Sonic will be available with a 1.8-liter inline-four producing 101 kW (135 hp) and 169 N·m (125 lb·ft) torque, or a 1.4-liter turbo inline-four producing 103 kW (138 hp) and 201 N·m (148 lb·ft) torque. The 1.8-liter inline-four will be mated to a standard five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.4-liter turbo will have a six-speed manual transmission. On August 2, 2011, it was reported that the Sonic had entered production at Orion Assembly, with the first cars arriving at dealerships later in the year.

Marketed worldwide in 120 countries under five brands (Chevrolet, Daewoo, Holden, Pontiac, and Suzuki),[1] the first generation Aveo was originally called Daewoo Kalos in its home market South Korea and many export markets. South Korean models were later rebranded Daewoo Gentra, while in other markets, the first generation model was marketed as the Holden Barina in Australasia, Pontiac G3 in the United States and later Canada, previously in Canada as the Pontiac Wave and currently in Canada as the Suzuki Swift+.

2012 Chevrolet Aveo is the lowest priced car sold in the USA today

The Aveo5 from Chevrolet, was released in the middle of 2008, in the eastern countries and it was a redesigned vehicle from the house of Chevrolet that had a 5-door design. The redesigning was done to the initial version of Chevrolet Aveo, by adding a new grille and tail lights to the vehicle, and now the 2010 Aveo looks a lot more impressive.

Chevrolet Aveo also called as Daewoo Kalos is one of the featured automotives manufactured by GM Daewoo, which is a of General Motors, South Korea. The vehicle is marketed in more than 120 countries. The vehicle is provided in two styles called T250 and T200. The meaning of the word Kalos in the Greek language is beautiful and hence it is named as Daewoo Kalos, Daewoo being the name of the company.

The Aveo5 is provided with 1.4 liter engine with 4 cylinders. The vehicle is available in both the transmissions - 5-speed manual as well as the 4-speed automatic. The vehicle provides more space inside and has the capacity to store plenty of luggage.

GM Daewoo [50.1% owned by General Motors] recently released a new version of the Aveo [called the Gentra in Korea] that currently is only available in Asia. The new Gentra/Aveo incorporates a rounder exterior departing from the dated wedged shape of the current Aveo. No official word as of this writing if and when the new model will make its American debut.

While the Aveo is certain not to win many awards, it does provide for consumers possessing limited means an affordable mode of transportation. For Chevrolet, who was lacking a basic home grown model, the Aveo brings in buyers who might have otherwise bypassed Chevy dealers and headed directly to Scion or Kia for their first car. Beyond that the Aveo is a truly forgettable car and first time buyers may want to consider a good used car instead.
